About
Michael Gonzales
I offer individual and group counseling sessions for adults and adolescents with substance use and co-occurring disorders. Throughout my career, I have worked with clients at all levels of care: detox, short-term residential, intensive outpatient, private practice, and most recently, in psychiatric emergency services, and inpatient behavioral healthcare.
Early recovery is a period of immense vulnerability and uncertainty as you begin to deconstruct the walls raised in active addiction and replace them with the coping skills necessary for success in long-term recovery. I believe wholeheartedly in the value of the therapeutic alliance and offer an environment that promotes sustainable change; to me, recovery is about more than putting down the drugs, it’s about becoming your best self. My philosophy emphasizes a daily routine consisting of exercise, nutrition, sleep, stress management, sense of purpose, and fostering a relationship with self, others, and, the environment.
